History

Ikara Local Government was created out of former Zaria Native Authotity following the Local Government reforms of 1976 at the time of creation, it comprised of Ikara, Kubau and Makarfi District. However, I 1991 the Local Government was reduced in size with the creation of Makarfi Local Government and Kubau Local Government in 1996 respectively.

Languages: The major languages spoken by the inhabitants are;

Hausa, Fulani, English, Yoruba and Igbo.
